The modern ability to store and manage all your diet, fitness, health and wellness data in the iPhone Health App makes it easy to keep track of goals and make improvements to your life. Although many speak of its convenience and the great help the app provides, you may find some confusion setting things up for the first time or managing the data after the fact. This article helps you through the process step by step so you can see the information you want and access it at your convenience with ease.

100+ companies trust us with their mobile app development needs. Watch the video below to learn why.

Adding Data to the Apple Health App

This is a popular app for iPhone users who care about their everyday health and medical records. Proprietary healthcare app development focuses on adding data and displaying it in the most convenient way possible. Security is also a huge concern when it comes to this personal information.

The first step in managing your health data on an iPhone is to know how to enter information for yourself. The iPhone Apple Health app makes it easy as long as you have a connected device like an Apple Watch and other supported apps that gather the data, to begin with. This program lets you track a variety of details including nutrition, calorie counts, steps, exercise, body composition, fertility, sleep, stress levels, and health records.

It is important to note that any information you enter physically or have transferred from another app or device can help inform medical professionals of your condition. The option to share with doctors or loved ones makes Apple Health more powerful than ever before.

1 – Add Health Information Manually

Although many people find it much easier to allow connected devices and apps to send data directly to the Health App automatically, it is also possible to enter it yourself. With the Health App open, tap on Browse and select a category for the information you want to include. Then tap on the blue Add Data button at the top right-hand corner of the screen. From there, type in whatever information you want to save. Tap Add again to finish the report.

2 – Gather Data from Connected Apps

This automatic process gives you great records without having to enter anything on a daily or weekly basis. Instead, you simply set up the sync between the different apps and let them do the work. To do this, tap on your profile in the Apple Health app. Then select Privacy and finally Apps. Your phone will generate a list of compatible apps you already have on your device. All you need to do is tap on its name, choose the different types of health information you want to share, and save your settings. In some cases, you will need to manually allow data access from the other app to the Health app as well.

3 – Include Information Straight from Another Device

If you have an Apple Watch or any number of other monitors or devices that sync smoothly with this app, you don't have to enter any information on your own at all. The process to set things up follows basically the same format as #2 above. Instead of tapping on Apps in your profile, select Devices instead. Make sure to approve all privacy settings and turn on Fitness Tracking if you want things to work automatically.

What Apps Sync Smoothly With the Apple Health App?

While you can find extensive lists of apps that work with the Apple Health app, it is also simple to find new ones from your mobile device itself. Inside the Apple Health app, tap on Browse and navigate to a category of interest. You can narrow down your search to different subcategories specific to the type of data you want to track. For example, you can choose calorie counting, heart rate monitors, and blood glucose tracking for diabetics. The app displays a list of options for you to investigate and ultimately download.

Multiple Source Data Options and Setup

If you are like many people, you probably have overlapping apps and devices that can give the same type of data at the same time. How do you choose which one to include in the iPhone Apple Health app records? Ultimately, the choice is up to you. It would help to pick the one that is most accurate or easy to understand. As long as the devices and apps are all able to synchronize with the Apple Health app; you may have to set up the system to prevent overlapping records.

First, note that the app prioritizes manually entered information first. Then it looks at data automatically sent from the iPhone itself and other Apple devices like your Watch or iPod. Finally, it looks at other Bluetooth devices and non-Apple apps. If you want to override this method or have additional items to include, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Browse tab in the Apple Health app
  2. Choose a category or search for one that fits your data type
  3. Tap on a specific subcategory
  4. Touch Data Sources and Access to see a list of options
  5. Select Edit
  6. Hold the drag icon next to the app or device
  7. Move the data sources into your preferred order
  8. Tap Done to finish and finalize your setup

You only need to go through this process once unless you add new apps or devices to your health management system. It is simple to reset the priority whenever you make changes.

Ultimately, the value of the health and wellness data you collect and store in your iPhone Health App depends on the data’s accuracy and completeness. If you use the program's ability to share information with physicians and other healthcare providers, make sure you enter accurate, up-to-date information. Individuals represent a greater source of medical information than they ever have before. Things like the Health App for iOS users play a major role in this change. Once you learn to sync your devices and other apps, you have a powerful tool for helping yourself live a long and healthy life.
